Privacy policy
Statside is a mobile app for recording the results and statistics of amateur football groups. This policy explains what information the app collects, why, and the choices you have. It applies to the Statside app and the service behind it at statside.co.uk.
Who is responsible
Statside is operated by Josh Delany-Booth, trading as DB Applications, in the United Kingdom. For anything in this policy, contact statsideapp@gmail.com.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address and a password. Passwords are stored only as a salted hash by our identity service (Keycloak) and are never visible to us.
- Football data: the group or groups you belong to, your role in each (member or admin), the player profile you link to (name, nickname, position), and match records entered by group admins: dates, scores, who played for which side, and man-of-the-match and player-of-the-month awards.
- Technical data: our servers keep standard access logs (IP address, time, request path, app version) for security and troubleshooting, retained for up to 30 days.
We do not collect location data, contacts, photos, advertising identifiers or any analytics about how you use the app. There are no third-party advertising or tracking libraries in Statside.
How we use it
- To sign you in and keep your account secure.
- To show you and the other members of your group the results, leaderboards and statistics the app exists to provide. Anyone in the same group can see the group's players, results and awards.
- To let group admins manage their group: players, results, awards and settings.
- To keep the service running and diagnose problems.
Under UK data protection law our basis for this is performing the service you signed up for, and our legitimate interest in keeping it secure. We do not use your information for marketing and we never sell it.
Who else sees it
- Members of your group see the football data described above, as that is the purpose of the app. Your email address is not shown to other members.
- Service providers that host the service for us: our server hosting provider, and Expo (Expo.dev), which delivers app updates to your device and receives the technical request data needed to do so. Apple and Google process your app installation and any purchases under their own policies.
We do not share your information with anyone else unless the law requires it.
Where it is kept and for how long
Data is stored on servers we control, encrypted in transit using TLS. Account and football data is kept for as long as your account exists. Access logs are deleted after 30 days. Regular encrypted backups are kept for up to 30 days.
Your choices and rights
- Leave a group at any time from the Profile tab. Your membership is removed; match records already entered by the group's admin remain part of that group's history.
- Delete your account from the Profile tab in the app. This removes your login and your group memberships immediately. Match records entered about a player are part of the group's shared history and are kept unless the group admin removes the player. If you cannot access the app, email statsideapp@gmail.com from the address on the account and we will delete it within 14 days.
- You can ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or object to how we use it, by contacting the same address.
- You can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
Statside is intended for adults organising and playing in amateur football groups. It is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
